    Research Skills Workshops August 2007

    The research skills workshop series introduces students commencing their PhD or Masters by Research to the information, skills and strategies needed to succeed in postgraduate research. Workshops are free (though you do need to register) and run from 9am-12noon. The workshops run in two streams: Sciences and Applied Sciences; and Arts, Humantities and Social Sciences. The workshop topics are: 

    Kickstart Your Research - Friday 10 August
    Looks at understanding the contexts of your research, setting goals and timetables, identifying existing and required skills. 

    Developing Your Research Proposal - Friday 17 August
    What is required in a satisfactory research proposal? How do you best use the research proposal process to advance your work?

    Managing and Reviewing the Literature - Friday 24 August
    Techniques for finding relevant literature in your field and staying up with new publications, reading critically and integrating the literature into your thesis.

    Conceptualising Your Research - Friday 31 August
    Conceptualise and communicate your research ideas in a workshop with facilitated discussion and get individualised feedback.
     

    You can sign up for the workshops here. If you can't attend the workshops, recordings and workbooks will be made available.
