Once the post is longer than a paragraph and it is information dense - does it significantly reduce the chances of it being fully read. Font size must also play a part as the small font size of the arts blogs seemed to compound this factor for me at least.&lt;/p&gt;
</description></item><item><title>re: Your Thoughts on Blogs: The New University Workspace?</title><link>http://myresearchspace.grs.uwa.edu.au/blogs/tamablog/archive/2007/05/09/your-thoughts-on-blogs-the-new-university-workspace.aspx#1528</link><pubDate>Thu, 10 May 2007 11:35:55 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">8a7e208b-72ee-48b9-aab7-de231d5a09bf:1528</guid><dc:creator>Tama</dc:creator><description>&lt;p&gt;David, I suspect the question of how long a blog post should be is directly related to the (expected) audience of a blog. &amp;nbsp;I would agree, for example, that some of the posts (especially my own) to the Arts Blog (&amp;lt;a href=&amp;quot;&lt;a rel="nofollow" target="_new" href="http://blog.arts.uwa.edu.au/teaching/2007/05/10/blogs-at-uwa-some-of-the-story-so-far/&amp;quot;&amp;gt;here"&gt;http://blog.arts.uwa.edu.au/teaching/2007/05/10/blogs-at-uwa-some-of-the-story-so-far/&amp;quot;&amp;gt;here&lt;/a&gt;, for example&amp;lt;/a&amp;gt;) are substantially longer than an averge blog posts. &amp;nbsp;However, in context, less so, since the blog is, in part &amp;nbsp;at least, about arguing to arts academics that blogs can be useful in teaching. &amp;nbsp;Thus, the target audience is far more likely to take a longer, well argued, post seriously. &amp;nbsp;By contrast, except for assignments (and that's another whole conversation), I'd imagine student blog posts would rare exceed 300 words.&lt;/p&gt;
