Random Potteresques
Right, I've had a good whine about HP7 to a few people, and I have no intention of repeating everything here again. I'm not going to list spoilers as such in this post, except towards the end maybe a bit (just for Karen), so avert your eyes now if you must.
Basically, I can accept everything that happened, even every pointless death that offered nothing to the story. My main gripe is that the epilogue was waaaay too far in the future. I craved a bit of catharsis, anyway. And where was the character development? How can anyone call Harry "selfless" when he is such a self-serving tosspot? Gah.

Best review of the book, spoilers-a-plenty: http://mightygodking.livejournal.com/345287.html#cutid1
And, in honour of Karen, I offer the following excerpts:
Page 571: "Chapter Twenty-Nine: The Lost Diadem." And Neville Longbottom finally shows up, with the crap thoroughly and comprehensively kicked out of him. Seems with Harry gone, he's decided that someone has to be the guy who stands up to the forces of evil and injustice, and is getting the *** whaled out of him for doing it. Neville Longbottom is fucking hardcore.
Page 577: Neville also figured out how to use the Room of Requirement as a headquarters for his secret army and how to keep the bad guys from finding it and how to use it as an entrance and exit to Hogwarts that they don't know about. Why isn't this guy the hero of the books again?
Page 731: Neville Longbottom continues to give Voldy a hearty "*** you." Have I mentioned Neville is awesome yet?
Hm, I wonder how much of that will get censored?
