8 things about me(me)

Rules:
1. We have to post these rules before we give you the facts.
2. Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged write their own blog post about their eight things and include these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged and that they should read your blog.

The Things

1. When I lived in Finland I used to wear mismatched woolly socks - hey, they kept my feet warm, who cares if they didn't 'go' together? So, my mother started making me pairs of mismatched socks. My favourite pair wore out last year, so I asked for another mismatched pair for Christmas. So, when I wander around in my Mary Janes with one foot pink and one foot purple, you'll know it's because I rebelled against conventions as a 14-year-old, and my mother wanted me to do so in a more decent way.

2. My first paid job was as a cabaret girl.

3. If the final Harry Potter book does not allow for at least some nookie for Professor Snape, I will be very disappointed. It would be criminal to waste Alan Rickman's swoon-enducing qualities in all the films.

4. I have studied English, Finnish, Swedish, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Indonesian, Ancient Greek and Latin. I only speak English and Finnish, though.

5. My favourite pizza is tuna and blue cheese.

6. I'm having difficulty thinking of eight things to list.

7. I feel a deep sense of shame if I ever accidentally mis-spell or mis-punctuate something.

8. When I was a toddler I collected price tags. I called them "costs" (hintanen), probably from hearing "How much does it cost?" (minka hintanen se on?). I glued them all over my arms and legs, and therefore would get very upset if things didn't have price tags on them. When I was all "costed" up I assumed the identity of the Cost Monster (Hintahirmunen). One of my aunties still calls me that. Another one calls me Sannakirja, a pun on sanakirja or dictionary (literally word book). What with me being so clever and all that.

***

A lot of my co-MRSpacers have already been tagged, so how about this: if you're a visitor from elsewhere, take up the meme and let me know, and I'll link to your blog from here. Here's lookin' at you, sis...
