The difference between and Arts student and an Engineer
Our house has a "study" - a small, dark room with the computer, a sofa, a filing cabinet and two book cases in it. I also have a work desk (one of those lovely old fashioned roller top ones), which is too small to actually do any work on. Basically, the study is a prime example of claustrophobia-enducing clutter.
So, I declared the study should become a Proper Study - with a good-sized workspace, more lighting and so on.
My plan was to go to IKEA or equivalent, buy a big desk and some lamps, and move the clutter into the sleepout (or "junk hole").
Ben's plan involves moving everything out of the room, washing the walls, fixing cracks and holes in the wall, sandpapering down the whole thing, repainting the walls and the ceiling, getting an electrician in to create more power points - and then putting in the new desks and lights.
His plan will look nicer, but my plan would be ready faster.
