A Day in the Life
Now, my grand plan was to do lots and lots of work today so I could blog to the world how fantastically productive and organised I am. Instead, I only managed to get out of bed at 9.30 (in my defence last night's meeting went on until 10pm, which meant I wasn'y home or sleep-ready until much later).
So far I have been familiarising myself with the limina mailbox - I got talked into being the submissions editor while Leith swans around Germany. Yay me!
...sigh. (I could really use a smiley that rolls its eyes right about now)
In a break from tradition, I have had breakfast today (of sorts). A cup of tea and a mandarin. Usually I realise around 3pm that I haven't eaten anything and should probably do something about that.
I have about 30 exam essays to mark by Monday, and I've read the first page of one of them. Life is too short. In addition, I have a grand task ahead of me today: figure out what I'm going to say in my thesis.
With all the teaching and pfaffing around this past 16 months (!!) I don't actually have any chapters whatsoever, and even my chapter structure is a bit hazy and unconvincing. So, today I shall sort it out, so that I can actually start writing something. To date I have fallen into the trap of "I can't possibly write anything until I've read at least these four books, and those seven articles, and watched the films again" - and that has to stop.
Wish me luck!
