Killer Queen
(okay, so this isn't my day of original titles)
Queen has been voted the greatest British band of all time.
Excuse me? I'm sure they meant Greatest Band, Regardless of National Origin, to Have Graced This Sweet Planet, Like, Ever.

I remember seeing a picture of Freddie Mercury in my English book when I was about thirteen, and had no idea who he was. For many years I couldn't tell the difference between Queen and Prince.
I jest not.
Then I saw Wayne's World, and bought the soundtrack just to listen to Bohemian Rhapsody. It still took me a few years to get into Queen more, but did so just in time for our trip to the UK in 2002 - and We Will Rock You, the Ben Elton/Queen-musical. The writing wasn't the best and the ending was a bit naff, but the music!
Saw it again in Perth a year or two ago and the story had changed - testament to the exquisite script, no doubt. But it was still a Queen musical. And that's what counted.
I've decided to adopt Fat Bottomed Girls as my own personal anthem. It's not so bad hovering in size 12 to 14 limbo when you know you make the rocking world go 'round.
I just think it's fascinating that while many bands release "Best Of" and "Greatest Hits" albums, the Queen ones actually had hits, real ones! A box set's worth!
So, Queen (and especially Brian May), my inner glam rocker salutes you.
