'Cause you know, everyone speaks English

Okay, two posts within 20 minutes of each other may be a bit much, but I can't resist sharing a bit of Overheard in Finland -goodness.

(The link is of course useless if you don't read Finnish, but Overheard in New York offers similar stuff in a more linguistically accessible format.)

Anyhoo, a discussion between two 13-year-old boys on a train somewhere in deepest, darkest Norden:

***

Boy #1: Did you hear that Saddam got the death penalty?

Boy #2: Yeah... But I think it's wrong, how can you punish killing by killing?

Boy #1: Yeah... I don't think he should be killed at all. They should put him in a cell on his own and give him drugs to keep him alive and torture him.

Boy #2: Yeah! And the worst torture would be that they'd tie him to a chair and force him to watch all these gameshows on TV, like forever and ever.

Boy #1 (rather enthusiastically): Yeah, and they could dubb the shows into English so he'd understand them!
