Nuclear science or its applications

Top-up scholarships are available for research students holding an APA or UPA or equivalent, working on a research project with nuclear science or its applications and requiring access to the facilities at ANSTO.

The scholarships provide a supplement stipend of up to $7,500 pa as well as a travel and accommodation allowance to enable students to work at Lucas Heights.

The Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarships 2008

Two travelling scholarships of $18,000 offered in each of the following categories:

■ Acting

■ Instrumental Music

■ Painting

■ Poetry

■ Prose

■ Singing.

BIENNIAL AWARDS

Lady Mollie Askin Ballet Travelling Scholarship 2008 – $15,000

A biennial scholarship (2008, 2010 etc) awarded to an Australian citizen for outstanding ability and promise in ballet. This Scholarship is open to Australian citizens between the ages of 17 and 29 years at the close of entries date.

Sir Robert Askin Operatic Travelling Scholarship 2008

– $15,000

A biennial scholarship (2008, 2010 etc) awarded to a male Australian citizen for outstanding ability and promise as a male operatic singer. This Scholarship is open to male Australian citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 years at the close of entries date.

The Kathleen Mitchell Award 2008

An award for authors under the age of thirty years valued at $7,500.

Michael Kieran Harvey Scholarship (piano) 2008 – $20,000

A biennial piano scholarship of $20,000 to be used to travel overseas for specific purposes to further enhance the winner’s career in music. Applicants must be postgraduate students and Australian citizens.

Completion Scholarships

Applications are now open for PhD Completion Scholarships. Closing Date: 31st August

In the August 2007 round of offers approximately 20 Completion Scholarships will be awarded to full-time PhD students for up to a maximum of 20 weeks. Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously, or recently, received scholarship support and Completion Scholarships should not be viewed as a second extension of a current scholarship. As limited funds are available, priority will be given to applications for funding for periods of less than the full 20 weeks. Selection will be based on thesis progress to date, strength of recommendation from the School, details of completion plan, and publications record (if applicable). These scholarships are available only to those students completing a PhD - they are not available to Masters students.

Completion Scholarships will be paid at the current rate of the University Postgraduate Award of $19,616 per annum and will initially be paid from School/Faculty accounts. Please note that revised conditions, as determined by the Scholarships Committee, apply to all new Completion Scholarship awards in 2007. If the thesis is not submitted by the due date, there will be a financial penalty to the School and 100% of the funding will be lost - there will be no reimbursement from central scholarship funds.
