Desktops and views

This morning I remembered to take my camera to work and photograph my desktop - luckily I actually spent some time in the office today, because some days it's a close call.

Today I assessed the latest batch of Completion Scholarship applications, then signed some Travel Grant applications, read and approved some requests for late starts, and signed a whole pile of Nomination of Examiner forms. What you can't see is the large box of nominations for Excellence in Teaching Awards sitting behind me - I'm trying to avoid them but can't put it off for much longer.

On the other hand, much of most of my days is spent elsewhere on campus, in various meetings or other kinds of activities like supervisor training. Today I had a meeting in the University's Senate room and I couldn't resist the view.

Hard to believe it was 42C outside.

About robyn.owens

I started my academic life doing a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics at UWA before going to Oxford to complete an MSc and a DPhil, also in Mathematics. I then spent three years in Paris at l'Université de Paris-Sud, Orsay, continuing research in mathematical analysis and going to lots of movies before returning to UWA to work as a research mathematician. I have lectured in Maths and Computer Science at UWA, as well as for short periods at Berkeley, The University of Canterbury in Christchurch, and Prince Songkla University in Thailand. My research has focussed on computer vision, including feature detection in images, 3D shape measurement, image understanding, and representation.
