Someone Else's Election
Coming from a family where teenage rebellion translated to screaming matches over the dinner table about whose interpretation of current political events was correct (old school Labour vs Just Watch How Left I Can Go), I still follow politics and current events with that same mix of avid fascination and over-identification, and total nausea. So today, like in 2004, I've sat with the CNN website in the corner of my computer screen and hit refresh every five minutes. And while I still don't fully understand the American voting system (or at any rate, the logic behind some of it), today seems to have had a more hopeful outcome even without resorting to
Wonkette's Midterm Election Drinking Game.
Now it is time to disconnect from the interweb - though watching too much ABC remains an option - and try for a full day of writing enabled by the No Contact With The Outside World (TM) tactic.
