Insomnia

Published 01 November 06 03:47 PM
Way back when I was a wee little Honours student, I was freaked out a little when my supervisor told me that insomnia could be useful for getting in a few hours of extra work. I wondered why anyone would do that to themselves (being a definite eight hours sleep or else type of girl).

Over the last few weeks, I've freaked myself out again by realising that I am coming around to that point of view. Just think, a chance to catch up on chores, to finish off that odd piece of writing, to make international phone calls, to read that article you photocopied a while back and haven't looked at since. I do pay for it the next day by being vaguely zombie-like or hideously over-caffeinated, but if items are getting ticked off the list, maybe temporary insomnia isn't all bad.

I think I was over-caffeinated for about 4 months finishing off my thesis!  I got a lot less sleep, but woe behold anyone who interupted my train of thought or writing!

Good luck finishing off! :)

Isn't it depressing as you go through uni.

As a fresher you are walking around zombie like cause you spent evey night of the week at clubba.

End of a Phd you are walking around zombie like cause you just got to get that graph just right
