Energised
I've just come back from an IAS masterclass on History and Theory with Professor Catherine Belsey. I'll post in more detail about my reflections on the ideas raised in the class later, but for now I just wanted to note how energised I feel - the exhilaration that comes from a day packed full of interesting ideas and vibrant exchanges of opinion. Having spent a lot of time lately staring at the computer screen in solitude, it has been wonderful to be reminded that firstly, I can get a lot written when I get put underpressure and stop being so precious about it, and secondly, that academia is challenging, fascinating, and can end up making your heart pound.
